USING EDUCATIONAL CDs / SOFTWARE CDs

Most CDs available on the market today are self-running, that is, they contain a file, for example, autorun. When the CD is inserted into the drive, it executes automatically. Otherwise, locate the .exe file like startup.exe or install.exe in the CD drive. Double-click the file. In case the CD has single software, the interactive installation screen will come the instruction.

Follow the instruction on the screen. Some instructions may prompt you to read and accept the contract, enter your name, choose a serial number of the package, the installation path, and recommend shutting down other active programs before proceeding from installation will do.

Most inputs are made by clicking an icon or button. After the files have been copied onto your system you will see the screen indicating that the installation was over.

The installation time will vary depending on the software being installed. If you find an error while installing software, read the readme file in the CD that will provide you with the hardware and software specifications required for the installation and resolution of some common errors.

The CD should always be inserted into the CD ROM drive, even if some installed software has copied files to your computer. This technique is used by a software manufacturer to cut piracy.

After the installation is finished, you will be prompted to restart your PC. After restarting your PC, you can use educational software, games, movies, or word processor software in the program menu or by clicking its icon from the desktop. The option to start the software from the program menu or desktop is offered at the time of software installation.
